"Type Locality and habitat of Satyrium saepium caliginosum. This is a unique phase of coastal chaparral noted for its high endemism. The view is across the estuary of Morro Bay with Morro Rock in the distance. This is a unit of California Department of Parks and Recreation ("State Parks")." -- John Lane

"Host and habitat of Satyrium saepium caliginosum at Baywood (TL). Center blooming shrub is Ceanothus cuneatus var. fascicularis, the presumed host. The plant occurs only in chaparral of sandy coastal mesas of San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties (Jepson distribution code: "sCCo".) The site is an ecological preserve within the State Park system." -- John Lane
