Type Locality: “California” implied from the title of the paper, “near Los Angeles” from the description; neotype from “La Tuna Canyon, 1200' elevation, Verdugo Mountains, Los Angeles County, California.”

Types: Type(s) destroyed in the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire; neotype in CAS, designated by J. Emmel et al. (1998), Syst. W. N. Am. Butts. (6): 104, figs. 76 ♂ D, 77 ♂ V.
