Doubleday, 1844, preoccupied (Code Articles 60.3, 67.8). The synonymy for this genus follows Wahlberg and Zimmerman (2000), Cladistics 16(4): 347-363.

Types: Syntypes in CMNH, FMNH and in ANSP; figured by W. Holland (1931), Butt. Book (rev. ed.): pl. 56, figs. 14 ♂ D, 15 ♂ V.

As first revisers, W. Barnes and McDunnough (1917), Check List Lepid. Bor. Am.: 9, no. 239, gave definita priority over albiplaga.
