Entomol. 67(849): 38. Type-species: Hesperia panoquin Scudder, 1863, Proc. Essex Inst. 3: 178-179, no. 81, as replacement name. Proposed to replace Prenes Scudder, 1872, preoccupied (Code Articles 60.3, 67.8).

Original Combination: Calpodes evansi

Type Locality: “Pharr, Texas” [Hidalgo County]

Types: Holotype in AMNH.

Evans (1955), Cat. Am. Hesp. Brit. Mus. (4): 407, and Scott (1986), Butts. N. Am.: 468, considered this taxon a subspecies of Panoquina fusina Hewitson, 1868, Descr. one hundred new spec. Hesp. (2): 30, without justification.
