Evans (1955), Cat. Am. Hesp. Brit. Mus. (4): 407, and Scott (1986), Butts. N. Am.: 468, considered this taxon a subspecies of Panoquina fusina Hewitson, 1868, Descr. one hundred new spec. Hesp. (2): 30, without justification.
