J.” Klots (1951), Field Guide Butts. N. Am.: 100, stated that the type locality is “Gloucester, New Jersey”; corrected to “Winchester Va.” by Scott (1994), Papilio (n.s.) 7: 44, since the only extant syntype is from Winchester.
